Every one of the students entering France deserves to be part of an inclusive educational community where they can continue their studies.

Welcoming these foreign students means educating faculty, staff, other students, and our communities about cultural identity. It means knowing how to acknowledge and supporting both foreign and French student development in a holistic way as they navigate a new society and develop their own student identities, whatever those identities may be.

Inclusive Resources

LIVING LEARNING COMMUNITIES

French institutions need support to deliver substantial information and inclusive resources for the large population of foreigners who are beginning or resuming their studies in France. 

From admissions through to graduation, refugees need more support because they receive little support at the borders.

These students are our future. They have knowledge and culture to contribute to our institutions and we must assist them. 

Localization

Quality translations and clear information in their language

Websites are not localized so refugees may have difficulty understanding requirements for applications, they may not be able to use or identify the available resources because they are not in their native language.

It means delivering inclusive and localized admissions, recruitment materials, and websites

Why English?

More programs, professors, and students

French institutions are offering more programs in English, as a result of the Bologna Process and other government initiatives. 

These institutions attract non-native French speakers, for whom English is beneficial for conduction international business.

If French institutions do not localize their recruitment materials then they are doing little to provide services for migrant students.

PhD and doctorate students perform highly technical tasks that require tremendous focus but students cannot do this work if they are simply fighting for emotional peace. When they leave campus, many of them go to work to support their families. They are busy and they don’t have time to search through pages of information or complete piles of complicate visa paperwork. Institutions must provide them with easy access to information they need to succeed.
