The Office of Multicultural Affairs is made up of welcoming, compassionate people with messy histories and uncertain futures, just like you. We make every effort to represent our student body in our staff so our students can visit us knowing they will be understood. We offer different appointments and resources that are tailored to your needs.

Welcoming multicultural, french, international students, refugees, families, and even other faculty means we have to be educate about where our students are coming from.

We focus on student development in a holistic way so our students can navigate a new community and develop their own identities, whatever those identities may be.

As practitioners, we are always learning about student development. It is so important to get more information and to revisit what we know. We use theory to help us visualize where our students might be on their journeys. Some theories are linear, but remember that development is a process of change and reflection for all of us, our paths might not always follow a straight line.

Learn more about International Students

PhD and doctorate students perform highly technical tasks that require tremendous focus but students cannot do this work if they are simply fighting for emotional peace. When they leave campus, many of them go to work to support their families. They are busy and they don’t have time to search through pages of information or complete piles of complicate visa paperwork. Institutions must provide them with easy access to information they need to succeed.
